Autumn Lupin Books

Zom-B Mission

Zom-B Mission - Darren Shan The zombies continue to be the least scary thing in these books. This book sees the return of a character from a previous volume and I'm very happy about it, they were, and continue to be, one of my favourites. Good to see Darren hasn't killed them off... Not yet anyway, this is a zombie apocalypse after all, not everyone is safe.

Alcatraz Versus the Shattered Lens

Alcatraz Versus the Shattered Lens - Brandon Sanderson 4.5 stars.

a vast well of puns, a gratuitous use of the word "stoopid", plus a killer Wheel of Time reference

Zom-B Baby

Zom-B Baby - Darren Shan 3.5 stars

Mostly Harmless

Mostly Harmless - Douglas Adams This was far more enjoyable than the previous volume in the series. Appropriate pace, and the hopping around to different POVs wasn't nearly as confusing as it has been.

Why Smart People Hurt: A Guide for the Bright, the Sensitive, and the Creative

Why Smart People Hurt: A Guide for the Bright, the Sensitive, and the Creative - Eric Maisel It's almost pointless to read this book if you haven't read his Natural Psychology one, I imagine.

Attack on Titan 19

Attack on Titan 19 - Hajime Isayama what a heart breaking volume!!

Exit West

Exit West - Mohsin Hamid 4.5 stars.

Zom-B Angels

Zom-B Angels - Darren Shan Not a whole lot happens in this one, but you get some explanations for what's going on, which is nice. Although, admittedly, it was more like confirming what I already thought.

Life, the Universe and Everything

Life, the Universe and Everything - Douglas Adams I'm just gonna put quotes here that I liked.

"I beg your minuscule pardon?"

"It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes."

Zom-B City

Zom-B City - Darren Shan Imagine this. You're strolling through whatever the zombie equivalent of a "park on a nice day" is, having a good, reasonable, zombie-filled time, when you round a corner, and there's a horrific scene playing in front of you. And I mean horrific to someone who's become accustomed to zombies. That's how this book plays out. It's a joyful zombie experience for about two thirds of the book, and then you're slapped in the face with all the scary bad things. And Darren Shan does it all delightfully.

Zom-B Underground

Zom-B Underground - Darren Shan Talk about nightmare fuel.

Fallen Too Far

Fallen Too Far - Abbi Glines There is barely any plot in this novel, but it went from 0 to 100 real quick. Are people really like this in real life? Who enjoys being called "baby"? Also, Nan is a bit of an odd name for a girl considering people refer to their grandmothers as "Nan". Any, plotwise, this book was ridiculous, and curse it for being the first in a series because my curiosity about what could possibly happen next is making me want to read the next one.
SPOILER ALERT!

Alcatraz Versus the Evil Librarians

Alcatraz Versus the Evil Librarians - Brandon Sanderson Alcatraz is really good at rambling. And he's not a very good author. Or just maybe not a very nice person. He talks about all the things an author shouldn't do, and then proceeds to do all of them.

Quentin, whose Talent is saying things that don't make sense, says "wasing not of wasing is," and I wonder if it's just gibberish to us, and Spook would understand it, or if it's gibberish to Spook also.

Harry Potty and the Deathly Boring (Papercutz Slices Series #1)

Harry Potty and the Deathly Boring (Papercutz Slices Series #1) - Stefan Petrucha, Rick Parker There are good parodies, and there are bad parodies. This falls under the umbrella of bad parodies.

Insurrection

Insurrection - Robyn Young I felt no real attachment to any of the characters, but it was still sufficiently interesting that I will read the next novel.

Zone One: A Novel

Zone One: A Novel - Colson Whitehead 2.5 Stars.

What a rough go. This was 259 pages of literal hell for me. Is it the prose that I disliked so much or is it just my deep dislike of the concept of zombies that made this read lengthy and just plain awful? We will never know. But I will not count his writings out just yet. I will give him the benefit of the doubt, and maybe his other writings will be more my speed.
